In the Works: Grapple & Dash Mechanics with New Playable Characters


I recorded these videos to show Kickstarter backers some of the progress we've been making behind the scenes, but thought y'all might want to see them too.   Note none of this is live in the demo, this is all future stuff.

First up we have a little showcase of the playable character "FRIEND"!


📌Watch this video to see how we've progressed on the Grapple mechanic (with ability to lengthen/shorten the "rope" by pressing up and down,  add physics/weight by pressing left and right to control swing, and visual indicators that show when you are in-range) as well as FRIEND's Double-Jump power. 

Next, let's look at the playable character "Leogo"

This character has a Dash ability with 2 different variations. If you use the short-range version, it operates like a pretty standard platformer Dash, adding speed and distance, tho we've also given players invincibility to damage during our Dash. ⚡


 The second Dash comes from charging it then launching yourself across the stage using a SuperDash power similar to the Crystal Heart in Hollow Knight.

We've also been working on another power that Leogo will have. This allows you to break Mario-esque bricks with a few notable changes. You destroy bricks beneath you, not above you, and you're actually setting off a chain reaction that, once triggered, will glitch-out all connected bricks in a series, including bomb-bricks! 💣 This is early footage and we're still working on the mechanics of this, but I think you can see the potential for fun puzzle-platforming levels using this Brick power.
